Why I Don’t Make Motivation Bracelets (And What I Make Instead)
I don’t believe in motivation.
There, I said it.
You know the:
Wear this bracelet and you’ll want to wake up at 5am, run ten kilometers in the freezing cold, drink celery juice, clean your toilet with a smile, forgive your enemies, answer emails, and become the person you’ve been postponing since 1999.
If real life was that simple!
Motivation is a spark, but life is a marathon.
Motivation is short‑lived.
It shows up usually after watching a video or reading a quote, and promises you a brand new life starting Monday.
Then Monday comes.
The spark is gone.
And you’re left thinking what’s wrong with me?
Nothing!
What actually gets people through hard things
People don’t move forward because motivation fuels them.
[Related: What Resilience Really Means - and why it has nothing to do with being tough]
They move forward because they’ve decided something matters enough, to get them going. Or because they’re tired of abandoning themselves to fit in someone else's shoes.
(been there, done that)
Nobody cleans their life from clutter because a bracelet (or a T-shirt, or [add your own] told them to.
They do it, because something inside them said enough!
I don’t promise transformation
I could easily make, name and sell “motivational bracelets.”
The words exist, the demand too. And probably the algorithms would love it.
But I can't tell you that this bracelet will fix your discipline, or this symbol will erase procrastination, or this piece will make hard things easy.
[Related: When a Symbol is something real, and when it's just "Design"]
That would be a lie.
And worse, it would put the failure back on you when life stays hard. We know how life enjoys staying hard for longer than normal!
The good news is, that everything you accomplish, it's all yours to celebrate about. Be proud! Even if you haven't started yet, even if you are halfway through, even if you stand in the ugly in-between,
be proud.
And keep going.
What these bracelets are actually for
The pieces I make - bracelets or not - are about remembering what you already decided.
About carrying your meaning and hold, until you get back on your feet.
About staying connected with yourself when progress is slow and movement feels minimal.
They stay with you. Like a quiet witness of your own journey.
Rebirth is not about becoming someone else
Rebirth is about reconnecting with yourself, about rediscovering all the parts of yourself that make you a whole.
Maybe you are in the wrong job. Maybe in the wrong relationship. Maybe in the wrong place.
You don't need motivation. And I won’t sell you that.
All the strength you need, already lives in you.
If you’re looking for a symbol that marks a decision you already made,
something to wear and remind you what matters when you’re tired, anxious, or overwhelmed,
something that will help you stay true to what you commited doing,
even something to make you feel a little closer to someone that matters for you,
you’re in the right place.
